The day of the Spring Equinox has been designated by the Association For Astrological Networking as International Astrology Day. Other astrology organiztions have joined in the celebration and this year we have a list of 21 events in five countries, and the list still keeps growing. The Robin Armstrong School of Astrology is going to the Forest Woodhenge for the exact equinox on Friday Mar. 20 at 7:44am. Departure time is 5 AM.Return time is 11 AM. Leaving from Aurora, Ontario. Winter boots and warm clothes are still needed, The temperature will feel like -9 C. There is still about a foot of snow on the forest trails. And it is a mile and one half to walk in and there is a 72 minute drive each way. This is wilderness, facilities are extremely limited. On Sunday, March 22, 2009 from 2-5:30 PM the Southeast Michigan Astrologers' Round Table, also known as SMART (a chapter of the National Council for Geocosmic Research), will sponsor its "Seventh Annual Spring Sunday Sampler at Crazy Wisdom." This is our astrological community's yearly celebration of the Vernal Equinox and International Astrology Day.
In the past up to six short lectures have been featured at the Sampler, but in 2009, two fairly substantial lectures will be presented. "Tarot-Astrology" will be offered by Liz Hazel, and Phil Meade will speak about "Astrology and Magic." These topics were chosen for their wide appeal and are geared to experienced astrologers as well as the general public. Bon Rose Fine will emcee and warm up the audience with a mercifully brief "Fun Signs" comedy shtick. Free drawing for door prizes!
Elizabeth Hazel is an astrologer, tarotist, and author, and released her original Whispering Tarot and accompanying book in 2008. Her literary work includes editing the American Tarot Association's Quarterly Journal, and she was the sole American lecturer at the 2008 Tarot Conference in Britain.
Phil Meade has been a practicing astrologer since 1987 and studied under Millie Melichor and Win Rowe. He is an author, poet, and member of the International Society of Neoplatonic Studies.
This event will be held in Crazy Wisdom's Community Room, upstairs at 114 S. Main St. in downtown Ann Arbor. Cost: $15.

Eugene Celebrates International Astrology Day on March 21 to Benefit Local Astrologer
Each year on the Spring Equinox weekend, astrologers all over the world gather together and celebrate astrology. This "astrologer's holiday" was instituted by AFAN (Astrologers for Astrological Networking www.afan.org) in 1993 to promote positive public awareness of this ancient art.
Eugene astrologers are hosting an IAD event on March 21 at Cozmic Pizza (on 8th and Charnelton) from 3-5 pm as a benefit to raise money for the medically related expenses of a long time local astrologer. If you are interested in astrology or want to know more about it, come join us and bring a friend or two for an informal gathering. You'll have the opportunity to talk astrology with other people and find out what's going on in Eugene.
There is no cover charge, but you will have the opportunity to purchase a variety of readings and classes offered by local astrologers in our silent auction, as well as used books and other astrology related items. We will also have a raffle. The funds raised will be donated to a person who has given guidance and insight for over 30 years to many people in our town.

NCGR Richmond Chapter International Astrology Day Event
The Richmond Chapter of NCGR is pleased to present former AFAN Steering Committee member Frank Piechoski's lecture "Electional Astrology: A Quick and Dirty Guide"
Wading through the world of electional astrology? There are sure-fire techniques for choosing the right time to start a business, get married, change residence or do almost any activity. Join Frank Piechoski as he guides us through the do's and don'ts of creating electional charts for successful outcomes. No high-handed theory here, just good, practical astrology techniques for those who want to use electional astrology more effectively. The first part of the lecture will examine rules and techniques for creating electional charts. The second part looks at examples of different kinds of electional charts. In the final part Frank will lead attendees in working together to create a chart that indicates success for a specific event. Frank will take questions on any charts you are working on.
Frank Piechoski is a professional astrologer who began doing charts in 1976. His lectures include presentations at UAC, AFA, the Astrological Association of Great Britain, SOTA and numerous local groups. He is also an active member of AFAN, and just finished his third term on its Steering Committee. William Lilly and Reinhold Ebertin are principal amongst his influences. Frank specializes in electional, vocational, and forecasting astrology, working closely with both private clients and businesses.
There will also be a drawing for a free year-long AFAN membership.
